Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health Counseling Using Art/Play Therapy

For individuals 3-18 years of age experiencing:

w Depression, anxiety, low self-esteem,

w Significant loss such as the death of a loved person or pet

w Behavior problems at home or school

w ADHD, learning, or developmental disabilities

w Family conflict, parental divorce

w Sexual, physical, or emotional abuse

w Challenges associated with chronic medical disorders

w Inability to cope with life stressors

 

Payment: Medical Assistance, Quest, South Central Preferred, Self-Pay on sliding scale. Offered at The Lehman Center, The Nicarry Center, Frances Leiter Center, and The Waynesboro Center.

 

Crisis-Respite Nursery

Short term residential care for children from newborn through 6 years of age who need immediate or urgent shelter due to:

w parental illness/hospitalization

w parental distress and inability to respond to child’s needs

w risk of sexual, physical, emotional abuse

w lack of appropriate housing for young child

 

For parents whose daily, ongoing levels of stress put them at risk for burn out and/or inappropriately interacting with their children.

 

No charge. Offered at The Lehman Center only.  Also offers 24-hour Crisis Hot Line for anyone needing immediate assistance.

 

Parent Support Groups

For any parent/primary caretaker who has a child 18 years and younger. Two-hour sessions weekly with child care provided. Provide a safe, non-judgmental, confidential environment for parents/caretakers to share their concerns and experiences with others.  Participants share ideas and support each other.   Opportunities to learn parenting skills to raise children of all ages.

 

No charge.  Offered in York and Dallastown only through The Lehman Center.

 

Case Management

For families experiencing ongoing stressors that impact their quality of life, such as lack of employment, medical/mental disorders, lack of housing, lack of food, need for legal assistance. Case managers make home visits once or twice monthly to help families reach and maintain stability.   

 

No charge.  Offered at The Lehman Center only.

Children’s Aid Society works with many organizations and individuals in the community to improve the quality of life for children at risk for emotional and mental health disorders.   We also work with the parents of those children to offer support and teach them constructive parenting skills.   A few of the organizations and individuals we work with are:
